Over the past three years I have been lucky to take part in several chalk art workshops with artist Melanie Stimmell. As an artist working mainly in two dimensions creating a 2D image that looks three dimensional has been something that I find both intriguing and challenging to wrap my head around. For example a shape that appears to be a circle when viewed through the eye of a camera actually varies greatly dependent upon how close or far away the shape is from the viewer and can be stretched out quite dramatically depending on how large the image is. The process is really fun and making art outside with friends is fantastic. Count me in for more chalk art!
