Build your confidence, loosen up and learn new painting techniques. Have you dabbled in painting and want to take your work to the next level but don't really know where to start? If so this 4 week painting series is for you! 


PREREQUISITES: You do not have to have extensive painting knowledge or experience to attend this workshop series. If you have already dabbled in painting, want to get back into painting or you just want a creative outlet this series is for you. 


WHAT WILL WE LEARN: 
Class 1: A fun evening of playing with paint! Learn to loosen up and play with paint, how to get different  textures and make a variety of marks and layers to create interesting backgrounds and depth in your paintings.  We will end the class with a lesson on mixing paint colours. 


Class 2: The first half of the class we will talk about brushes, brush strokes and tools for acrylic paint. This will be followed by an exercise where we get to play with composition and colours. Home work: Lay in a back ground and sketch your image onto your canvas. 


Class 3: You get to start your own painting and I will give you tips as we go along. 


Class 4: Continue to work on your own painting 


WHAT WE HAVE ON SITE:
Paints
A range of brushes and extra tools for mark making
Palette
Water Container
Easels
1 Piece of water colour paper/ student 


WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:


Bring your usual acrylic supplies:



  • 2 canvases (minimum)- sizes 16 x 20 or 20 x 24 [ bigger ones or squares (20x20 or larger) if you want to]

  • Sketchbook or just some blank paper

  • Pencils eraser and sharpener

  • Clothes you don't mind getting messy in

  • Masking tape

  • If you want to bring your own paints you are welcome to do so.

Andrea Mueller is a Fine Art graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto Ontario, one of the top two Fine Art schools in Canada and sister school to Emily Carr. She has over 20 years' experience working as a professional artist and art instructor, Andrea offers regular Paint Nights, private creative events and kids programming both in Whistler B.C and Virtually.
